My name is Guan Tyng. Many call me G.T.
I graduated from an unconventional western great books program at a small liberal arts college in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
So far, I have traveled and lived in about 20 states in the United States for both business and pleasure.
I am someone who believes that everyone in this world deserves a chance to be happy; I am someone who reads a little more than the average person; I am someone who spends a little more time pondering about finding the balance point among our body, mind, and soul.
WHAT I DO FOR A LIVING
I am a business mentor. I focus a lot on helping different businesses in maximizing their profit with the least amount of effort.
I have learned and applied many things from Jack Canfield, David Dean, Wallace Wattles, Napoleon Hill, MJ DeMarco, Gary Vaynerchuk, Perry Marshall, and Tim Ferriss.
For the past 6 years, I breathed, ate, shit, and lived direct sales.
For my first 5 summers in the United States, I approached over 4,000 families selling educational books door-to-door. It was a summer job with straight commissions, no guarantees, and I had to relocate and start my own business in a place I had never been before.
Fortunately, I was trained well by a bunch of highly motivated college students. With a proven cold calling and referral system, I sold about $26,000 worth of books within 12 weeks. That summer was the first time I didn’t need to ask money from home. I saved enough money to pay for college fees and living expenses for the whole year.
And it wasn’t enough for me to do that alone. I have a natural tendency to share great things with those around me, especially the ones I care the most.
If it was helpful for me to learn the art of selling, it would be helpful for others. With that belief, I recruited more students to do what I did for the following summers.
Long story short, I built a sales team that produced 6 figures of revenue within 12-weeks-period. I wasn’t just a sales trainer. I also guided my recruits in their major selections, resume building, job/grad school interviews, and success habits cultivation.
Years later, I applied the same principles while I was working for a Honda dealership in Houston, Texas.
Despite my lack of experiences in the automobile industry, in three months, I became the top producer for at least 6 months in a row with an average about 12 vehicles a month (~ $360,000 average monthly retail). Among the last few months I worked there, I doubled my commission by increasing the profit for the dealership and 10x the online testimonials from my clients.
Over the years, I have had friends, business acquaintances, and strangers approaching me to help in their careers & business ventures.
